Passports

    Introduction

    From 01 October 2014, the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Kingdom of Norway has started to issue biometric passports of the third generation to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are legally residing in the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Iceland for more than three months. The Embassy also issues passports to citizens of BiH who are legally residing for less than three months if a passport has expired, or if it occurred the loss, destruction or theft of a passport.

    An applicant for a passport should be registered in the Registry of Births in Bosnia and Herzegovina with JMB & in the Book of Citizenship in Bosnia and Herzegovina with JMB, and her/his personal identification number (PIN/JMB) must be accessible in the Central Registry. Persons under the age of 18 and their parents/custodians must also have their PIN/JMB accessible in the Central Registry.

    Documents needed for biometric passports of the third generation

    Each applicant for a biometric passport should personally appear in the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina Oslo in the pre-scheduled time (date, hour, minute) submitting required documents, where biometric data is collected (digital photo, digital signature and fingerprints).

    In the case of interrupted connection with the electronic database a date, and time may be changed!

    A new passport has a validity of three years for persons aged up to three years, five years for persons aged 3 to 18 years, and ten years for adults.

    Three or six months before the date of expiry the passport can not be used for crossing country borders (depending on the country whose borders someone is crossing). Therefore, it is necessary to apply for a new passport on time!!!

    Persons under the age of 14 may travel abroad only if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or must have consent of both parents or legal guardian, certified by competent authority, if travelling in the company of another person.
